Where Does the Word Camera Come From
Where does the word camera come from? From the Latin and the combination of two words "camera and
obscura" and the direct translation of camera obscura in English language was a "dark room". The direct translation of the first word camera was dark in
English and "obscura" was the "room" —
if the two words combined is a "dark room."
Why
dark room and not light, semi light and the likes? The first invention of camera was designed by
using of photo paper when the photo paper was invented, but before the photo
paper existed; there are many recording materials other than photo paper wherein
the image of the subject was drawn by light through permission of light to
enter.
The
overexposing of the light on the photo paper, the resulted was differing to the
anticipated outcome. Therefore the parts
that will limit the entrance of the light was the camera and the camera should
very tight and due to the tightness, the inside of the camera is very dark and
that was the reason why they called the camera as light tight box or which no
light can enter except from the opening by photographer.
Called
dark room due to no light can pass except from the intended time and purpose.
Inside of the camera is very dark. The digital camera might will works even
there was light in the surroundings or very expose on the sunlight and other
types of lights.
The
film paper camera is very sensitive on light but now our cell phone has camera
which can record without photo paper and developed to the solutions to develop
the image of the subject. The camera in the past has big differences than in
this current age.
We
can take any shot without limits while the camera that used photo paper through
exposes the image of the subject has limitation and waste of money if the shot
was not properly executed.
However;
the great advantage of camera that used film (filmed – camera) the image that
drawn on the film could not edit by adobe Photoshop and other sophisticated
software that those can maneuver image.
The
image that was recorded on the photo paper from the film is admissible as
evidence in court if relevant to the issue and the law enforcer used filmed
camera for court presentation and validation and if the some law enforcers used
liquid crystal digital camera or known as LCD in some reasons and might for
preservation of the incident(s) only.
The
real origin of the word camera was from camera obscura which denotes to the
very dark room. But now the sophisticated camera those can take images without
film still considered as camera, even can take image from any subjects even the
parts of the camera was very exposed from any kinds of lights and the one
example was camera on the phone.
The
great advantages of cameras on our age are can take videos compare to the
origin camera back from the previous age.
Those
needs only electricity which came from the source as the responsible of makes
the camera record (camera on the phone and other camera which run by
electricity through battery and the likes.) the subjects.
