Abraham in the Bible

Abraham in the bible is father of all believers in God base on the epistle of Apostle Paul on the book of The Romans 4:11. To those who are God believers where the Abraham was the father of those people is not only as God – believer – people but God – fearing – people as well.

Abraham as our father was existed together with Melchizedek where there was Sodom and Gomorrah was existed yet. The Abraham name was a coined from Abram as the first name of Abraham base on the Genesis 11:27 and the father of this man was the Terah.

The wife of Abram was the Sarai; this woman as the wife of Abram or known as Abraham was barren and therefore no son nor daughter. The age of the father of Abraham is 205 years old before he passed away. There was a commandment from God that said unto Abraham base on the chapter 12 verse one on the book of Genesis.

God gave promised with Abraham on the verse 2 on the above mentioned chapter and book of the bible on the Old Testament. The promised of God with Abraham is on the list below.

1. Shall become a great nation

2. Bless by God

3. The name of Abraham shall great

These promised was happened especially in the age of Moses up to the time of the Lord Jesus Christ and might still cover until now.

The promised of God with Abraham was written on the verse 2 chapter 12 of the book of Genesis. 

The second promised of God and more with Abraham is on the verse 3 and on the list below.

• Bless to anyone who blessed Abraham
• Curse to anyone who cursed Abraham
• All families on earth be bless due to Abraham
• The land of Canaan is for the seed of Abraham (Genesis 12:17 and Genesis 13:14 – 15)
• Genesis 15:18

When he was departed from the land of Haran where his family sojourned, he had age of 75 years old, the wife of this man has beauty and his nephew Lot went with him and his wife Sarai. He obey the Lord God to go away from his family without any hesitation whether what will happen in him and might the faith in God of Abraham is works in this time.

The destination of Abraham was the land of Canaan and that land became the place of the Israelite those became servants in the Egypt and they were free through the hand of God when God used Moses to free His people from oppression.

Since the wife of Abraham has face and that beauty might threat to the life of Abraham; when they both entered in the land of Egypt; he commanded (Genesis 12:11 – 13) his wife to pretend that she was a sister of Abraham. Due to Sarai, Abraham had sheep, oxen and more (12:16) from the King Pharaoh but his wife was took and brought onto the King. Due to Sarai the King Pharaoh received plaque from the Lord and his house.

On the above mentioned there was Sodom and Gomorrah during the time of Abraham and Lot; the evidence whether the Sodom and Gomorrah existed in their time is on the chapter 13 verse 10 on the book of Genesis.

The people both in Sodom and Gomorrah are wicked and that was the main reason why these two places were vanished on earth due to angriness of God that was triggered by their wickedness. The Bera was the King of Sodom (Genesis 14:2) and the King Birsha was the King of Gomorrah.

Before these two places were vanished on the earth, there were angels of the Lord those sent by God and one of the Angel of the Lord talked with Abraham about the Sodom and Gomorrah.

There were wars on the time of Abraham and those wars Lot became the captive of the enemy of Sodom base on the 14:12; the information regarding Lot was received by Abraham that his nephew was brought by the enemy of Sodom by His confederate. Abraham like other man had confederate.

 After he received that information, he and his group pursued the enemy for his nephew Lot. The war of Abraham was successful against to the enemy of Sodom and he brought back all the things and the people which captive by the enemy to the right place together with his nephew Lot.

After the war — Melchizedek as a King of Salem and this King was a priest of God Almighty blessed Abraham and Abraham gave Melchizedek  (14:20) 10 percent or known as tithes.

God told Abraham that his seed in the future shall dwell in the place that own by others and (15:13) shall afflict in four hundred years and this pronouncement was became real after the Joseph died in the land of Egypt and the next Pharaoh as the King of Egypt did not acknowledged the Joseph that served as their hero due to that kingdom was survived in the hungriness.

Abraham told by his wife Sarai that Abraham needs to do sexual intercourse to their servant in order for Sarai to have a child through Hagar.  The first child of Abraham with Hagar was Ishmael and his age was 86 years old. When he reached the 99 years old, God spoke with him again that (Genesis 17:4) he shall be a father of many nations and the God changed his name from Abram into Abraham and the reason of God why He changed his name (17:5) due to God made him as a father of many nations and the kings shall came from Abraham.

The name of the wife of Abraham was changed from Sarai into Sarah and God said into Abraham that his wife was no longer called as Sarai but Sarah and same manners with Abraham that was (17:16) blessed became mother of many nations, and the kings came in her. This man was circumcised (17:24) in the age of 99. Abraham and his son Ishmael was simultaneously circumcised base on the chapter 17:26.

When he saw the three men, he went and bowed down before the three men and these three men are the Angels those sent by the Lord. That time Abraham called them as the Lord but he committed not any mistakes about his words. He invited the three Angels to eat and he brought the butter, milk, (18:8) calf which he had dressed and set it before them.

After the three men ate their food, Abraham went with them to bring them on the way and the Lord spoke again with Abraham and those three men was separated in him and to the Lord that spoke with Abraham, in short, those three men continued their walks during Abraham talked with the Lord and their direction is in the land of Sodom.

Abraham asked to the Lord says "you also destroy the righteous with the wicked? If there are fifty righteous and not spare the place of fifty righteous?"

There are many questions made by Abraham with the Lord and for more information about their conversation that time, you can see that conversation on the chapter 18 verse 23 up to 33 on the book of Genesis.

Only two Angels were came on the land of Sodom and we have no idea whether what happened to the one Angel might or has possibility the being that talk with Abraham was one of the three Angel or the one Angel was separated from the two Angels those came in the land of Sodom and the two Angels came almost even that time in the intended place.

Lot the nephew of Abraham when he saw those two Angels was bowed down before them and he invited the two Angels to enter in his house and after that happening there was commotion occurred due to some people has intention to harm the two men but those people were blinded through the power of the two Angels and they did not saw the door of the house of Lot.

Finally the two Angels open the story about the destruction of the land of Sodom with Lot and these two Angels talk with Lot to evacuate all his family and properties except to the house due to the house is heavy and same weight’s properties due to the Angels will destroy the Sodom and they admitted that they sent by the Lord God (19:13) to destroy the City of Sodom. But this story is about Lot and let us back about the story of Abraham.

After the destruction happened in the land of Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham got up early and stood to the place where he stood before the lord and he saw whether what happened in the land of Sodom and Gomorrah and those places were melted due to their wickedness.

When they lived in Gerar; the king of that place took his wife like what happened in the place of Egypt. God appeared at night through dream of the King and the King received a warned from God if he touches the wife of Abraham he will die.

This King was a God – fearing – person and might the reason why God appeared in his dream and gave warned to his possible mistake if he touched the wife of Abraham and we cannot blame Abraham about whether what happening in the King due to Abraham just protecting his life.

The age of Abraham when Isaac was born was 100 years old and he circumcised his son in accordance to the lord’s will that should circumcise after 8 days.

There was a time that God tested Abraham whether he is willing to offer is only one son in the sight of the Lord. 

The lord commanded him that he need to offer his son and he did so and his intention is clean to offer his son and after he attempted to stab his son, there was voice from the heaven and that voice was the voice of the Angle of the Lord and he was stop by the Angle and he saw there was ram that caught in a ticket by his horns and he changed the offer instead his son but the ram or the lamb. That lamb has spiritual meaning, it was signifies in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The age of Sarah when she passed away was 127 years old and she was died first than with Abraham and he buried his wife in the cave in (23:19) the land of Canaan.  After his wife was died, he took again a wife and the name of the woman was the Keturah and they had 6 children.

The age of Abraham when he passed away was 175 years old base on the Genesis 25:7 on the book of Genesis. This was the story of Abraham in the Old Testament which written by Moses and if we trace the generation of Moses, he was a part of the offspring of the Abraham.
