What is a felony? Felony is a term used to address the violation of criminal law; if someone violated the laws which govern by criminal code was called felony and not a crime. Crime applies only to the special laws.

Here are some types of crimes those under the criminal code to be consider as felony.

If these types of crimes committed by person or by someone can be consider as felony due to these laws are under the criminal code.

If someone committed any crimes mentioned above, don’t call that felony as crimes the right term is felony.
If someone killed person either the case is homicide still the right term for this type of commission is the felony not crime. Layman called even what types of violation as crimes. We can’t blame them due to they have no background about law(s).
Even sometimes the law enforcer called the murder incident as crime but the right term is felony.
Special laws are those laws other than criminal code, but not ordinance, nor city and just local ordinances.
Selling of dangerous drugs will fall into crimes if the criminal code has no pronouncement of the dangerous drugs.
If the criminal code has no pronouncement about drugs, one thing is for sure, might there was existing special law that punish the selling of drugs like marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth, heroin and the like dangerous drugs.

There was no law that punish the using of over the counter drugs unless to the drugs which prohibited by law to sell, use and cultivate.
If there was no special law that pronounced about drugs, even what types of drugs are those and the criminal code has, if someone sells the above mentioned illicit drugs still can be consider as felony if there was special law just call as crime.
